In-Depth Reviews of Laptops Under 50,000

#1: Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G (Best Laptop Under 50,000 for Gaming)

Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G Core i5 15.6 inch FHD Laptop, (7200U 8GB / 1TB / 2GB NVIDIA GeForce 940max...
  • Processor: 7th Gen Intel Core i5-7200U processor, 2.50GHz base processor speed turbo boost upto 3.10GHz
  • Operating System: Preloaded Windows 10 Home 64 bit Lifetime Validity
  • Display: 15.6" display with IPS (In-Plane Switching) technology, Full HD 1920 x 1080, Acer ComfyViewTM LED-backlit TFT LCD

Gaming is one of the main reasons why people buy laptops as it gives you the freedom to play at your convenience from anywhere anytime.

And if you do not have the budget to buy a high-end gaming laptop, the Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G is everything you could have asked. Here’s why.

What we like

Most of the latest game titles like PUBG, Fortnite, etc. require an i5 Processor and 8GB and that is exactly what you get with the Acer Aspire 5.

The processor and RAM also allow you to run multiple programs and surf the internet using multiple tabs and browsers without turning the laptop into an oven or worse making it crash (because don’t you just the blue screen error?).

Furthermore, it also has a base clock speed of 2.5GHz which can be boosted to 3.1GHz to ensure faster data processing.

And if you think the 8GB RAM isn’t cutting it and you need an upgrade to play titles like FIFA 19, NBA 2K19, you will be happy to know that the RAM can be upgraded to a 20GB.

Another factor crucial to a gaming laptop is the graphics card and the Aspire 5 is equipped with one of the most powerful in the form of the NVIDIA GeForce 940max Graphics.

The integrated 2GB dedicated delivers a greater visual experience for gamers, graphics designer and video editors and also helps speed up rendering (you want a fast laptop and you get exactly that).

Also, to ensure you never run out of space and can comfortably store all your images, videos, gaming profiles, settings, etc. the laptop comes with a 1TB HDD.

But we all know HDD’s are not as quick as SSD’s when it comes to loading and boot times, right? This is why the Aspire 5 comes with an M2 slot.

This means you can upgrade to a 256GB SSD anytime you want further boosting the performance while getting additional storage.

But all that speed and power won’t matter much to a gamer if the laptop fails with its display. Thankfully, Aspire 5 does not disappoint.

The 15.6-inch Full-HD display captures colors and contrast like any high-end laptops while the ComfyViewTM reduces strain on the eyes (so you can continue gaming for hours without tired, red eyes).

Further making it easy to work or play in the dark is the backlit keyboard.

The laptop also comes installed with Windows 10 and lastly, has a 3.0 USB Port which gives you transfer speeds of about 5GBPS so you can back up your files in a jiffy.

Specs

  • Processor: 7th Gen Intel Core i5-7200U processor,
  • Clock Speed: 2.5GHZ, boosts to 3.1GHz
  • RAM: 8GB (Upgradable to 20GB)
  • Graphics Card: 2GB NVIDIA GeForce 940max Graphics
  • Display: 15.6-inches Full-HD
  • Weight: 2.1kgs
  • Storage: 1TB HDD (M2 Slot for SSD up to 256GB)
  • Battery: 5-6 hours
  • USB 3.0 Ports: 1
  • Warranty: 1-Year Onsite Warranty

Drawbacks

On the downsides, it has a decent 4-5-hour battery life but we would have liked it to be a little longer (around 10-hours) for uninterrupted gameplay.

Furthermore, the speakers of the laptop are not that great so it would be better to use a top-notch headphone.

Also, it is slightly bulky which means it is not as easy to carry around as a MacBook Air or Pro.

Pros

  • Comes with i5 Processor good enough for most gaming titles and graphics work
  • The processor speed boosts to 3.1GHz when need be
  • The 8GB RAM can be upgraded to 20GB
  • The NVIDIA GeForce 940max Graphics with 2GB RAM guarantees you top-notch graphics
  • It comes with an M2 Slot so you can upgrade disk to an SSD up to 256GB for better speed
  • You get a large 15.6-inch Full-HD display
  • ComfyView Technology reduces strain on eyes
  • The backlit keyboard makes it easy to work or play at night
  • The USB 3.0 Port allows data transfer at speeds over 5GBPS

 Cons

  • Low battery life

  • It is bulky and thus difficult to carry around

#2: HP 15

Sale
HP 15 Intel Core i5 (8GB DDR4/1TB HDD/Win 10/MS Office/Integrated Graphics/2.04 kg), Full HD Laptop...
  • 7th Gen Intel i5-7200U (2.5 GHz base processor speed, 3 MB SmartCache, 2 cores), Max Boost Clock Up to 3.1 GHz
  • Windows 10 Home with lifetime validity
  • Microsoft Office Home & Student 2016 Lifetime edition

Going toe to toe on most from with the Aspire 15 is the HP 15 and just like the Aspire it comes packed with speed and power that can easily handle most tasks.

More about this laptop below.

What we like

First and foremost, the HP 15 also features an 8th Gen Intel i5-8250U processor with an excellent clock speed of 2.5GHz which can be boosted to 3.1GHz.

It also has an 8GB RAM so you know there is speed aplenty packed into HP 15. But in case you crave an even better memory, it can be upgraded to 16GB.

Similarly, while the 1TB HDD seems sufficient to store the bulk of videos, images, etc. on your laptop, it clearly lacks the speed and other benefits that come with an SSD.

In case you didn’t know, SSD’s can be up to 17 times faster than an HDD (perfect for when you are multitasking) and luckily, even HP 15 has an M2 Slot.

This means you can boost performance by spending a few extra thousands as and when you have the funds.

Furthermore, it also has a 15.6 Full-HD display but more importantly, it won’t tire out your eyes

Another feature of the laptop is its fast charge which means it goes from 0% to 50% in just 45-minutes (so you are never left waiting for too long).

Compared to the Aspire 15, the HP 15 has a more immersive sound with better bass so if are yet to purchase good earphones/headphone, the speakers should serve you just fine.

It also comes pre-installed with Windows 10 home and Microsoft Office Home & Student 2016, both with lifetime validity.

And lastly, it has not just one but two USB 3.0 Ports and as you already know, there is hardly any faster way to transfer data.

Specs

  • Processor: 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8250U processor,
  • Clock Speed: 1.6GHZ, boosts to 3.4GHz
  • RAM: 8GB (Upgradable to 16GB)
  • Graphics Card: Intel UHD Graphics 620
  • Display: 15.6-inches Full-HD
  • Weight: 2.0kgs
  • Storage: 1TB HDD (M2 Slot for SSD available)
  • Battery: 3-4 hours
  • USB 3.0 Ports: 2
  • Warranty: 1-Year Onsite Warranty

Drawbacks

One of the few drawbacks with this laptop is its 3-4 –hour battery life which is well below the specified 7 hours though quick-charging does make to some extent.

Though the display is Full-HD it is not as bright and colorful as we would have liked (there’s definitely room for improvement there).

Lastly, a higher graphics card would have been ideal as it would support even better games or more graphics-intensive tasks.

Pros

  • The i5-8250U processor can be boosted to 3.1GHz for easy multitasking
  • Furthermore, to increase the speed you can upgrade the 8GB RAM to 16GB
  • The 1TB HDD gives you excellent storage space
  • With the M2 Slot you can add in an SSD anytime you want for better boot time and more speed
  • You get a 15.-6-inch Full-HD display
  • Quick charge means it goes for 0% to 50% in just 45-minutes
  • It comes loaded with Windows 10 home and Microsoft Office Home & Student 2016
  • The two 3.0 USB Ports allow for lightning-fast data transfers

Cons

  • The battery life is quite low
  • It has an average display
  • It has an integrated Graphics card

#3: Lenovo Ideapad 330 (Budget Pick)

Sale
Lenovo Ideapad 330 Intel Pentium N5000 15.6-inchLaptop (4GB/500GB HDD/Windows 10 Home/Onyx Black/...
  • Processor: Intel Pentium Quad Core N5000 processor, 1.10 GHz
  • Operating System: Pre-loaded Windows 10 Home with lifetime validity
  • Display: 15.6-inch | Antiglare display

Are you looking for a laptop on an even tighter budget? Well, then the Lenovo Ideapad 330 is just what the doctor ordered for.

It perfectly combines cost-effectiveness with features that are ideal for day to usage like browsing, movies, etc.

What we like

Even for a cheaper laptop, the display of the Ideapad 330 is pretty good. After all, any laptop that gives you a 15.6-inch Full-HD display with anti-glare for less than Rs 20,000 is definitely well worth the money.

But that’s not it.

The Ideapad 330 also features a Quad Core N5000 processor and 4GB RAM which are quite good for budget laptops and can easily handle Netflix streaming, browsing, movies, etc.

Furthermore. The risk of damaging the laptop is minimal since it comes with a 180-degree hinge. Plus, it also makes it easy to view the screen at multiple angles (you like working from the bed, well, now you can).

The laptop also boasts of a really good sound thanks to the Dolby Audio which means you can watch movies and even play a few light games without the need for headphones.

While most laptops come with 1TB of storage, it is quite understandable that low cost means you get only 500GB with the Ideapad 330 (though trust me, that is space aplenty for all your apps and videos).

The USB 3.0 port gives you unprecedented data transfer speeds of about 10GBPS and to top that, it comes pre-installed with Windows 10 not DOS like the other cheaper laptops do.

Pre-installed is also a special photo app that lets you tell a story via your images through beautiful transitions, 3D effects, and soundtracks (when nostalgia hits, this is exactly what you’ll need).

The 5-6-hours battery life is as good as it is going to get with budget laptops giving you ample time to get done with presentations or watch an entire moving from anywhere you like.

Specs

  • Processor: Intel Pentium Quad Core N5000
  • Clock Speed: 1.1GHZ
  • RAM: 4GB
  • Graphics Card: Integrated GFX
  • Display: 15.6-inches Full-HD
  • Weight: 2.2kgs
  • Storage: 500GB HDD
  • Battery: 5-6 hours
  • USB 3.0 Ports: 1
  • Warranty: 1-Year Onsite Warranty

Drawbacks

While the laptop does have some impressive feature, its integrated Graphics card and Quad Core processor means it isn’t built for graphics-intensive tasks.

This limits its use to making presentations, content writing or for kids that want to watch movies online, play a few light games, etc.

Pros

  • The 15.6-inch Full-HD Display is quite impressive for a cheap laptop
  • It also has an anti-glare coating so it does not strain your eyes
  • The 180-degree hinge prevents damage to the screen
  • With a Quad Core N5000 processor and 4GB RAM, the laptop can handle browsing, MS Office, etc. with ease
  • The 500GB HDD gives you a good amount of storage for everything you need
  • It comes with pre-installed Windows 10 with lifetime validity
  • The special Photo app makes it easy to edit images and create trailers in a jiffy even for newbies
  • With the USB 3.0 Port, you get transfer speeds of about 10GBPS
  • The 5-6-hour battery life is pretty decent for a budget laptop

Cons

  • It has limited RAM and Processor
  • The integrated graphics card is not good enough for graphics-intensive games

#4: HP Pavilion x360 (Best Laptop Under 50,000 for Travelers)

The HP Pavilion is one of the most unique laptops in this price range and if you love to live life on the go, this is everything you were hoping for.

Sale
HP Pavilion x360 Core i3 8th Gen 14-inch Touchscreen 2-in-1 Thin and Light Laptop (4GB/256GB...
  • Processor: 8th Gen Intel Core i3-8145U processor, 2.1GHz base processor speed, 2 cores, 4MB cache
  • Operating System: Pre-loaded Windows 10 Home with lifetime validity
  • Display: 14-inch HD (1366 x 768) SVA Anti-Glare Micro-Edge Touchscreen display | WLED display

What we like

One of the main reasons why we call it the most travel-friendly laptop in this price range is its compact design which means you can easily carry it around with one hand (sleek and sexy, just how a laptop should be).

But more importantly, it comes with 4 modes. This means you can use it in either laptop mode, tent mode, tablet mode or the reverse mode.

The laptop mode is ideal for meetings and serious gatherings while the tend mode is great for watching a movie while you cuddle with your partner on the sofa.

Similarly, use the tablet mode for when you want to use the laptop on the move. And the reverse is great for those laid back lazy Sunday’s when you are in no mood of getting out of bed.

This 360-degree makes the whole experience of using a laptop really immersive and the hour-glass like design means it can be opened from anywhere.

But will these features alone cut it? Absolutely not, after all, it is a laptop and not a tablet, right?

This is why HP equipped the Pavilion x360 with an i3 processor that has a pretty good clock speed of 2.1GHz and a 4GB RAM (so it can easily handle all basic computing tasks without trouble).

But in case you multitask a lot and find the laptop slowing down, you can also upgrade the RAM to 12GB for a performance boost.

Also, giving the laptop a much-needed boost in performance is the 256GB SSD (a feature rarely found in this price range). This means your laptop opens up and even loads programs within a few seconds.

And while 256GB space might seem low, with the two 3.0USB Ports, taking backups of the largest of files will take minutes so you can easily free up space when needed.

Furthermore, helping it stand out from the pack is its awesome battery life of 8-10 hours which means it will easily last you a day without the need to recharge.

And when the battery does run out, with the fast charge technology, it goes from 0-50 in just a matter for 40-45 minutes.

The touchpad makes it easy to use the laptop and works just like your smartphone (finger tap, pinch zoom in/out, its got it all).

And when you are in the mood to doddle or get creative, there is also a pen included with the purchase.

Further making that possible and giving you life-life, eye-popping colors whether it is graphics, movies or games is the 14-inch Full-HD display.

And you can be at it for hours with the Anti-Glare Micro-Edge display protecting your eyes from any kind of damage.

Lastly, it comes with a pre-loaded Windows 10 Home that has a lifetime validity so you can use it right out of the box.

Specs

  • Processor: 8th Gen Intel Core i3-8145U
  • Clock Speed: 2.1GHZ
  • RAM: 4GB
  • Graphics Card: integrated Intel UHD 620
  • Display: 14-inches Full-HD
  • Weight: 2.2kgs
  • Storage: 256GB SSD
  • Battery: 8-10 hours
  • USB 3.0 Ports: 2
  • Warranty: 1-Year Onsite Warranty

Drawbacks

As I mentioned-above, storage space is lower than the other models on the list.

Plus, it has only an i3 processor and an integrated Intel UHD 620 Graphics which means you will have to play games at a lower graphics setting.

Pros

  • The ideal model for a traveler as it can be used as a laptop, tablet, fully reversed or tend mode
  • Its compact design and low weight makes it easy to carry around
  • The 4GB RAM can be upgraded to 12GB for better performance
  • The hour-glass design lets you open the laptop from any side
  • With a 256GB SSD, you get better speed than any HDD laptop
  • It has a long 8-10 hour battery life
  • Takes just 40-45 minutes to charge to 50%
  • The 14-inch Full-HD display is bright and immersive
  • Anti-glare keeps your eyes protected when working for long hours
  • The touchpad makes it easy to use the laptop in tent mode and as a tablet
  • For doodling, you can use the free pen
  • It has two USB 3.0 ports for quick data transfers
  • The i3 processor has a good clock speed of 2.1GHz

Cons

  • Not suitable for gaming at high graphics setting
  • Low storage space
