In-Depth Reviews of Laptops Under 25,000
#1: Lenovo Ideapad 110 80UD00RYIH
- Up to 2.0GHz Intel i3-6006U 6th Gen processor
- 4GB DDR4 RAM ; RAM is not upgradable
- 1TB hard drive
Lenovo has been one of the best if not the best brand in the laptop industry for quite some time now be it cheap or high-end laptops and their Ideapad 110 does not disappoint either.
One of the reasons why we rate the Ideapad 110 so highly is the processor. The i3 processor that has a clock speed of a surprising 2.0GHz (a rarity is cheaper laptops) gives you unmatched power and speed.
Team that up with a 4GB RAM and you can easily run multiple tabs, media files or software without your laptop slowing down or worse, crashing.
Another reason we love this Lenovo model is the large screen. The 15.6-inch is a Full-HD display that delivers colors and contrast that makes watching movies a delight.
This display in tandem with the integrated Intel HD Graphics also allows you to enjoy games like Skyrim, Minecraft, Half-Life 2.
What about some of the latest titles?
Well, you can even try out a few games like PUBG, GTA V but make sure you keep the graphics settings to the lowest possible.
And so you can store all your games, songs, movies, and TV series or even images and videos, the laptop has been equipped with a 1TB HDD.
But one of the standout features of the laptop has to be the safety and security it offers as it is compatible with Kensington MiniSaver cable locks which.
This means the laptop can be secured to any heavy and large object while you take calls or visit a friend (perfect for the freelancers that love working from a coffee shop or co-working space).
Also, the laptop features one USB 3.0 port which gives up blazing fat speeds of about 5GBPS for quick transfer of files so baking up files does not take you too long.
It has 4-hour battery life. Yes, when it comes to battery life, the longer the merrier but nonetheless, 4-hours is pretty decent considering the speed and display it offers.
Lastly, the laptop also comes with a 180-degree hinge which means you should be able to comfortably view the display at different angles.
On the downsides, the RAM cannot be upgraded which is a tad disappointing as you are stuck with 4GB.
Also, it does not come with Window rather DOS OS which means you will need to install it yourself.
The laptop speakers aren’t that great though new headphones or Bluetooth speakers Under 5000 should give you all bass and stereo effect you need while watching movies or playing games.
#2: HP 15q-ds0002TU
While it may not have the Ideapad’s processor, the HP 15 sure is packed with features that can leave any user impressed. Wondering what these are? Let’s find out.
- Processor: Intel Pentium Silver N5000 (1.1 GHz base processor speed, 4 MB cache, 4 cores), Max Boost Clock Up to 2.7 Ghz
- Operating system: Windows 10 Home
- Display: 15.6-inch HD SVA BrightView micro-edge WLED Display (1366 x 768), Brightness: 220 nits
Like I mentioned above, it does not have an i3 processor but rather Intel Pentium Silver N5000 with a 1.1GHz base clock.
But what’s special about this processor is that it can be bumped up to 2.7GHz when needed giving you a handsome amount of speed for daily tasks.
Further helping you breeze through tasks is the 4GB RAM and unlike the Ideapad 110, here, if you think you need more memory, you can expand it to a whopping 16GB (now, that is memory worthy of a high-end laptop).
It has a similar battery life as the Ideapad of 4-5 hours and while that is not too great the HP Fast Charge sure had us smiling with joy. But why?
Well, since that means your laptop goes from 0 to 50% in less than 45-minutes so you are never left waiting for too long (because sometimes, ).
Also, don’t you just hate it when you have to constantly take backups because you keep running out of storage?
Well, kiss goodbye to such problems with the 1TB HDD of the HP 15 and keep everything close to your heart on your laptop for easy access anytime, anywhere.
For a cheaper laptop, the HP 15 also sports good speakers that deliver immersive sound with decent bass and clear voice.
So in case you do not have your earphones or speaker around feel free to use the in-built speaker for your movies and songs (trust me, it is pretty good).
And to go along with that sound you also get a 15.6-inch Full-HD display which captures a good amount of colors and contrasts further improving the viewing experience.
It also comes with pre-installed Windows 10 Home while the dual USB 3.0 ports are perfect for quicker data transfers and help you get backups in a jiffy.
Well, as you already see the laptop is not at par with the Ideapad 110 as it does not come with an i3 which limits its use.
Also, while the display is quite good it does have an anti-glare technology so using the laptop for long hours can tire out your eyes.
Lastly, the integrated graphics card is great for movies but advanced enough to handle more complicated tasks.
#3: iBall Excelance (Best Bang for your Buck)
What if I told you that you can get a laptop for less than Rs, 10,000? Oh yeah, that is exactly what the iBall Exelance will cost you.
Yes, it is not a brand well-known for their laptops but nonetheless, if you have a bare minimum budget, it sure does provide an excellent alternative.
Here’s more about the laptop below.
- 1.92GHz Intel Atom X5-Z8350 8th Gen processor
- 2GB DDR3 RAM
- 32GB 5400rpm hard drive, expandable up to 128GB
What we like
The first and foremost thing I really liked about the laptop is that even at this cheaper price they give you a pretty decent processor in the Intel Atom X5-Z8350 8th Gen processor with an excellent clock speed of 1.97GHz.
Off course it is no i3 or i5 but if you are looking for a laptop to keep the kids busy with some YouTube videos, the occasional movie or few online flash games or simply need a backup laptop, this works just fine.
And to further support those activities it also has a 2GB RAM. The 2GB RAM does allow you to run multiple tabs or apps but if you find the laptop heating up I would recommend cutting it down a few notches.
RAM and processor aside, an impressive feature of this laptop is its display. A Full-HD display in a laptop under 10k is better than expected.
Also, the screen is quite large at 11.6-inches and delivers a decent amount of colors and brightness that makes watching movies and videos on it a worthwhile experience.
It also comes into the ultralight and sleek category as it weighs a mere 1kg and slides quite comfortably into a handbag or backpack for easy carrying on your travels.
This gives you the freedom to work while enjoying the serenity of the beaches or the mountains or from a nearby coffee shop (it is so light, you can even carry it around the house or office in one hand).
While the 32GB built-in memory is quite low, the best part about it is that you can boost not only space but laptop performance as well.
By utilizing the slot provided for an HDD or SSD (oh yes, you heard that right).
And in that battle, SSD is the obvious choice as it works almost 17 times faster than an HDD. You can also boost space to 128GB using a Micro SD card in case you do not have the budget for an SSD.
When you need to back up data, the 3.0 USB port allows you to do it in minutes and since it comes pre-installed with Windows 10 Home, it can be used right out of the box.
It is quite evident that the laptop does not have the specs needed to run games or larger software needed for editing, graphics designing, etc.
Even low-graphics games might lag due to the lack of powerful processor, RAM, a dedicated graphics card or internal storage.
Also, there is no anti-glare technology so make sure you do not spend too much time staring at the screen and take breaks
Well, while the drawbacks are quite obvious, this is a laptop that is great for the budget buyer’s looking for something to keep up with their blog or enjoy a movie, etc. while on the go.
And it is this that makes it worth the 10k you will spend on it offering you the best bang for your buck.
#4: Lenovo Ideapad 330
- Processor: Intel Pentium Quad Core N5000 processor, 1.10 GHz
- Operating System: Pre-loaded Windows 10 Home with lifetime validity
- Display: 15.6-inch | Antiglare display
Are you looking for a laptop on an even tighter budget? Well, then the Lenovo Ideapad 330 is just what the doctor ordered for.
It perfectly combines cost-effectiveness with features that are ideal for day to usage like browsing, movies, etc.
What we like
Even for a cheaper laptop, the display of the Ideapad 330 is pretty good. After all, any laptop that gives you a 15.6-inch Full-HD display with anti-glare for less than Rs 20,000 is definitely well worth the money.
But that’s not it.
The Ideapad 330 also features a Quad Core N5000 processor and 4GB RAM which are quite good for budget laptops and can easily handle Netflix streaming, browsing, movies, etc.
Furthermore. The risk of damaging the laptop is minimal since it comes with a 180-degree hinge. Plus, it also makes it easy to view the screen at multiple angles (you like working from the bed, well, now you can).
The laptop also boasts of a really good sound thanks to the Dolby Audio which means you can watch movies and even play a few light games without the need for headphones.
While most laptops come with 1TB of storage, it is quite understandable that low cost means you get only 500GB with the Ideapad 330 (though trust me, that is space aplenty for all your apps and videos).
The USB 3.0 port gives you unprecedented data transfer speeds of about 10GBPS and to top that, it comes pre-installed with Windows 10 not DOS like the other cheaper laptops do.
Pre-installed is also a special photo app that lets you tell a story via your images through beautiful transitions, 3D effects, and soundtracks (when nostalgia hits, this is exactly what you’ll need).
The 5-6-hours battery life is as good as it is going to get with budget laptops giving you ample time to get done with presentations or watch an entire moving from anywhere you like.
While the laptop does have some impressive feature, its integrated Graphics card and Quad Core processor means it isn’t built for graphics-intensive tasks.
This limits its use to making presentations, content writing or for kids that want to watch movies online, play a few light games, etc.
Buying a cheaper laptop is actually an even tougher decision than going for a high-end laptop packed with features.
Because if you end up with the wrong set of features there is very little you can do with the budget laptops as they may not be able to support the games and software you intended on running.
This why we recommend you check out reviews and get a low down on all the features before making a buying decision.
And with this in-depth guide, you get all the info you need to make an informed purchase (from processor capabilities to even speakers, there ‘s everything you need).
